April 20th
By Lance Brown
The day was April 20th 2013. The venue was a packed Curtin Club in Dallas,Tx. This is the first show of 2013 for Pulse. Fans and myself have been waiting for months for the return of Pulse in the Dfw area. You could just feel the excitement in the air. All of the other bands rocked the stage earlier that night. And now it's 12:30am and myself and Pulse. Justin"Guitar", James"Backin Vocals/Guitar", Kelly"Bass", Jimmy"Drums", and Sean"Vocals" are setting up the stage. Everything is going great before the show starts. And then Jiggy's guitar goes out. Myself and the other band members found the problem and fixed it quickly. Then the curtain opens and the crowd goes wild!!!! The first song is 'Wish you away' and then a 15 song setlist. Everyone was singing along to every song. I even found myself singing along too. Pulse was ready for this show! Especially Sean, from jumping off speakers to being in the crowd. It just made the show that much better. Even with guitar/bass issues. So now the curtain closed and the crowd starts chanting for Pulse. I look out the side of the curtain and no one has left. The place is still packed! So I reopen the curtain and the crowd goes wild once more and Pulse starts playing Madonna's 'Like a prayer'. All the girls loved it. And now to end the night the last song is 'First to fight' dedicated to all men and women of the armed forces. That was the best way to end the night. Pulse has some real dedicated fans! I'm glad I can be apart of it. And I can't wait for the next show! Scott Hoover @ Trees Dallas TX
On Friday at the Trees concert venue in Dallas,Texas Voodoo Queen's own Pulse took to the stage with national acts Smile Empty Soul and Hurt. Now I have been looking forward to seeing these guys play for quite some time. Electric, that would be the one word I have come to mind after seeing these guys play! Now mind you Friday I had to come home from work, 40 minutes of ridiculous traffic, and take a shower. Then Rachel(my girlfriends daughter) and I hit the road for a 200 mile trek from Houston to Dallas to see Sean and the guys play. Every mile driven and every penny spent was well worth it let me tell ya. Their cover of Sail by Awolnation is better than the original!! Their set was incredible. Seans stage presence is second to none. He interacted with the crowd with that impeccable front man savvy that you want when seeing a rock group perform. P.J. had the crowd involved the entire time even bumping knuckles with fans while thumping the bass with sick grooves. Now for those of you who havent seen these guys play let me tell you about the man behind the skins Jimmy. Well Jimmy is like watching a show within a show haha.. Spinning sticks, thumping double bass, and he does not leave any drum or cymbal untouched.Incredible! Now on to the duo of Justin and James on the guitars. The entire show I thought, wow these guys play together so well. Thats not even the half of it. As rachel and I and well the entire crowd watched on these two guys start throwing down solos, first seperately then together then behind their heads!! Yes, I said behind the head solos. Without missing a chord,a fret,a note these two axemen threw down so you knew without a doubt that you had seen the best act of the night! Let me tell you guys this newly fellow Texan couldnt have been more impressed and you have a 12 year old fan that is telling anyone that will listen that she got to meet and hang out with the coolest rock band ever.. As I sit here honored that I am writing this review I must say to all you national acts out there that would have Pulse open up for you. Its as simple as this ,bring your A game because they will and one day you will be opening up for them! S7NNER out
Review from Shauna Daves & TANKZ VENUE Tulsa OK
I found that Pulse was a high energy band with good stage presence. The front man, Sean Yeaney was great at bringing the crowd and making the fans a part of the show. Pulling from the crowd the energy that was needed to keep everyone involved and included shows true performance and showmanship. Pulse definitely has that. The crowd response was great and Pulse was well received. Many comments were “ Oh Hell, When do we get to have Pulse back to Tankz?” I can say that Tulsa was impressed most with Pulse than any other bands that night, but not to go without saying Texas brought Tankz a great night of music. Pulse had a great impact on our venue. However, I would have liked to see the image of the band to be stronger. (One thing that bands always mistakenly do is show up in a pair of ratty jeans and a t-shirt). For some that’s okay, but for Pulse, this is a band of quality and image is a huge part of what message Pulse wants to portray to their fans. I would say that they are not doing themselves justice if they don’t bring their A game for every show. That’s what it takes to leave an impact on people. Pulse is showing great potential and lots of promise. Leaving fans something to remember, whether it be the variations in the music, stage presence, talent and skill at the craft, Pulse left Tankz with just that. Image, showmanship, stage presence, sound, lyrics, balance of the songs and the overall picture when a band does a show has got to be implemented. Pulse brought that and rocked Tankz out.
On another note, I believe that Pulse could easily blast the radio stations. The general public would love, in my opinion, to hear them. They could very easily go mainstream and be well received. Tankz is very excited to have Pulse back. Our customers and local music supporters are very excited and are anticipating the next show Pulse brings to Tankz!! Keith Higgs from WK Entertainment Group
On July 29th of this year I had a show booked at The Rockin Rodeo in Denton Texas with Trapt and Pulse. This was the first time I were to see Pulse but I have heard many great things about them from booking agents from all over and even in other states.
When the band arrived at the venue I was very pleased with the professionalism of the band when it came to loading in and how fast they adapted to sudden changes in the show. When the show started I was very excited to see Pulse and knew I was in for a treat. They had my attention from first note to the last note of the set. They put on a show that I wish more bands in the DFW area would do. They had everything that you would want to see in a band and to top it all off they are great guys off stage as well. I plan on doing more shows with them and I really look forward to watching them reach the goal of all musicians and that is making it to the top. This is one band you all need to keep your eye one. JUST JEN ROCKS....REVIEW OF PULSE IN LITTLE ROCK
The heartbeat creates a ripple of blood that flows through your veins and makes your pulse beat in time with the rhythm of life. As everyone dances to different drums, different things make your pulse race. The rush of anticipation, satisfaction, knowing, winning, laughing, loving…..all can control your pulse, your heartbeat wild with excitement.
This band is aptly named. I had heard some of their music as I work with Yvonne Loveland/ VooDoo Queen Management and she had given me a sample cd, as well I had looked some artist up to listen. We have an awesome front man and lead vocals out of Sean Yeaney. His awesome vocals are backed by Jordan Talley on lead axe and backing vocals, Pj Blackburn on thundering bass and backing vocals, Justin Judy on Rhythm guitar and James Lay on percussion. They are touring right now and hit Little Rock on March 2nd. A much anticipated date was no disappointment! Local AR band, Playing with Karma opened up the show with a great set and set the tone for the evening, everyone was ready to be rocked. Attack the Mind, out of Pine Bluff, closed the show out with an awesome set as well, Pulse in the middle, it was an awesome line-up. Pulse exploded on stage starting out their set by lowering all the house lights. The music starts. Each musician is totally into that moment, that part of themselves they give to the people they play for every time. Giving it all you got is definitely something that Pulse has down. I don’t think their personalities or music would allow them to do a boring set, it just isn’t them. They are as much a show band and when you can find a band that still has that it is a sight to see. Sean Yeaney has such a range on his vox that some of the songs gave me chills. He has total control over his voice, his active and awesome stage presence compliments not only him but each member of the band as well. His performance is so energetic that you are really mesmerized. You are listening, hearing each drum beat, bass lick, and rhythm holding steady for the axe to blow you away. These are skilled and salty musicians. The rest of the band compliment him perfectly in keeping with feeding into his energy that he shares with each of them, this band is a brotherhood. I bet they finish each other’s sentence’s a lot. Their CD, Show Me The Way, is NOT a “one good song on the whole cd” kind. It is the kind you push repeat on. My favorite, and I am so glad they performed it, “First to Fight”, a tribute song to Yeaney’s brother who is in the service. I cannot describe what he puts into that song, what the band is feeling because you can hear it in all of them, they MEAN this. This song brings out the drums a little more and it is bone chilling. One of the best tribute songs I have heard and that it was for his brother makes it even more so. He makes you feel how he felt when he wrote that song. Something else that really gets me is when a band can take a great song, of any genre, and remake it, not do a cover. Pulse has done this with a song you would never believe but it ROCKS ass! When a hard rock band does a Madonna song and blows it up, wow! I had never “envisioned” that song that way but I have to have it…. Each one is a dyed in the wool musician on their own, put this combination together, a beat started. A Pulse came to be where there was nothing before. It is their lifeblood and I really expect this band to make a large impact in Hard Rock. They definitely have all of the ingredients and then some. Thank you guys again for stopping here for a great show and hope to see you again soon!! |
